BUS CONDUCT
BUS SAFETY & CONDUCT
Managing transportation services for any school is a difficult job at the best of times. Our number one goal is to provide safe transportation to and from school in a timely manner. Students should realize that riding the bus is a privilege, not a right, and behave accordingly.
The following are the bus rules
-
The bus driver is in complete charge of the vehicle and students. Students shall follow similar rules as classroom conduct rules and obey the driver promptly and respectfully.
-
The same rules that apply at school apply on the bus.
-
Students are expected to respect school bus property.
-
The bus is expected to be kept clean at all times.
-
Passengers are expected to be courteous and respectful to one another. Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
-
The following behaviour will not be tolerated on the bus:
a. Littering
b. Throwing objects
c. Bullying – students are encouraged to report incidents to the driver after arriving at the destination to avoid distracting the driver while driving. d. Students are also encouraged to report such incidents to the Administrative staff at AlBaqir Academy.
e. Eating or drinking on the bus
f. Climbing over seats or switching seats while under transport. Students are to remain seated at all times until they are permitted to exit
7. If you will be late picking up your child(ren) from the bus or have someone else picking up your child(ren), please notify AlBaqir Academy in advance so it can be communicated to the bus driver.
a. Parents/Guardians are not permitted to pick up other children taking the bus without express written consent from that child’s parent/guardian. Written consent needs to be provided to AlBaqir Academy directly so that we are aware of the situation. In emergencies or special circumstances, the Academy must be notified of who will be picking up the child(ren).
b. The bus driver will not release the children from the bus unless he sees the children’s parent/guardian. For the safety of students, the parent/guardian must come to the bus to pick up the child(ren) and not sit in the car expecting students to come to the car. Otherwise, children are to remain seated on the bus.
8. When picking up your child(ren) from the bus, parents must remain outside of the bus until their children have come off the bus. Please do not enter the bus looking for your child(ren).
9. If you are late dropping off your children in the morning and the bus leaves, then you do not have the right to stop the bus so that it can pick up your kids.
10. Students must be picked up within 15 minutes of the arrival of the bus. Parents coming after 15 minutes will be charged $50 per child every day they are late.
If an issue arises regarding the bus or driver, please approach the school directly. Do not take up personal matters with the bus driver.
For added safety of students riding the bus, AlBaqir Academy added security cameras to the bus.
Parents are requested not to talk to students about school-related matters. Such matters must be discussed with the Administration so that they can be handled appropriately.
Students and parents who do not conduct themselves in accordance with this Policy will be dealt with as follows:
Warnings – One only
Suspensions – One only, and accompanied with a letter
Expulsion *- Removal from bus route
• Any behavior considered extremely serious by the driver or supervisor may result in immediate expulsion without warnings or suspensions.
Please discuss this policy with your child. Transporting students to and from school is a huge responsibility that we take very seriously. If drivers are distracted from their duties, the results can be potentially catastrophic for all of us.
AlBaqir Academy is not liable for any injury that may occur to any students on the bus.
In executing this agreement, you hereby expressly waive any claim for liability against AlBaqir Academy including its employees and representatives and release them from liability in connection with bus transportation. Further, you assume full responsibility for any damage to persons and/or property caused by your child(ren). You further expressly agree that in the event disciplinary action may be necessary, your child(ren) may be returned home at your expense.
In addition, in case of emergency, I hereby authorize the school to act in the best interest of my child(ren). I further consent and will be responsible for any medical treatment that may be advisable at the discretion of any physician. I understand that I will be personally notified if my child(ren) requires health treatment.
Please sign the bottom of this form as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Academy Office. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
We pray that everyone stays protected and safe.
Sincerely,
AlBaqir Academy
